Jack Dagger Giving Away Free Throwing Knives for Cutting Edge Contest

I just finished writing a profile of Jack Dagger as part of a throwing knives contest we’re holding at the Cutting Edge Knife Blog. Jack’s a great guy and really interesting.

Not only does he have a good story, but he also agreed to give away a set of his throwing knives and an autographed copy of his instructional video to our first-prize winner; that’s in addition to the $100 in cash we were already offering.

The annual Antique Bowie Knife Associations (ABKA) annual meeting will be held on Friday August 19th and Saturday August 20th at the convention center in downtown Natchez Mississippi. “Where it all began” just steps from Bowie’s tavern which overlooks the Mississippi and from where you can see close to where the melee (the Bowie dual) actually happened. After Set up and an initial review of the show on Friday afternoon, everyone gathers at Dunleith plantation (Constructed by Mr. Dahlgren himself) the only full colonaide top to bottom to survive the civil war in Mississippi, to gather for drinks and hors de voires. Saturday proves to be a full day of trading and sharing information. There will be some of the best knives in the country on display and many items will be for sale. This is not only a Bowie Knife show, there will be all sorts of antiques and related collectibles. You will likely see some fabulous confederate items and many other collectibles such as swords, guns, period gold and related collectibles. The show will conclude Saturday evening with an awards ceremony for different categories of knives (awards given by both the ABKA and the Natchez Bowie Knife Show). American Knife and Tool Institute Supports Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation

WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 13, 2011) – The American Knife & Tool Institute (AKTI) is pleased to announce its support of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) and its programs: the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses (NASC) and the Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus (GSC).

AKTI’s Board of Regents recently chose to select the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation as the very first “American Knife & Tool Institute Advocacy Partner.”  AKTI recognizes the value CSF brings as an organizing force for federal and state legislation providing bi-partisan access to pro-sportsmen legislators.

“The two organizations worked cooperatively in 2009 when U.S. Customs’ action threatened to classify assisted opening knives as illegal switchblades,” noted AKTI Legislative Chairman CJ Buck, Buck Knives, “and we want to continue a mutually beneficial relationship realizing that when legislators step up to defend your outdoor heritage they must also protect the knives that make those outdoor experiences possible.”
