BladeSports US Nationals 2010-2011 preview

BladeSports International US National Championship 2011 preview video. Held on May 14, 2011, this multistage competition qualified the 10 best cutters in the US to compete in the BladeSports International World Championship at Blade Show in Atlanta, GA. Donavon Phillips won this competition and became the US National Champion as well as the US National Points Champion.

Master Smith Jim Crowell Television Interview -The Art of Knife Making

Last week Master Smith Jim Crowell and his wife Jenny were the featured guests on the TV Show “Talkin Outdoors” which featured the topic “The Art of Knife Making”. The TV show is hosted and produced by Steve “Wildman” Wilson who is with Arkansas Game and Fish. During the interview Master Smith Crowell talks about bladesmithing, the American Bladesmith Society, and describes the testing requirements for Journeyman Smith and Master Smith ratings in the ABS.

During the interview there are video clips shown of Jim chopping 2×4’s in half, and wife Jenny cutting a free hanging rope with one of Jim’s Bowie knives. In addition, there is a video clip of Master Smith Lin Rhea at a meeting of bladesmiths giving a forging demonstration which is narrated by Jim Crowell.
