Two weeks from tomorrow, the 31st Annual BLADE Show (www.bladeshow.com), the world’s most important knife event, will go down June 8-10 at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, Georgia.

    Join the over 900 exhibitors that include knifemakers, knife companies, knife accessory companies, knifemaking suppliers, purveyors, swordsmiths, sheath makers, knifemaking equipment manufacturers—in other words, everything that has to do with stuff that cuts—at the biggest knife party anywhere. Show times will be Friday, 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

    In the coming days in this space, you will see capsule descriptions of special events within the event—seminars, the show within a show, the Survival+Tactical Gear Expo, the BLADE Magazine Knife-Of-The-Year® Awards, the annual induction into the Blade Magazine Cutlery Hall Of Fame©, the annual meeting of the American Bladesmith Society held in conjunction with the show—and much more.

    In many ways the show starts two weeks from today, Thursday, June 7. That is the day many of the exhibitors start arriving to set up in the mammoth Cobb Galleria Centre show hall, and patrons start arriving to meet and greet their fellow knife enthusiasts for the coming three days of non-stop cutlery revelry.

In three days, the world of knives will be condensed into the planet’s most important knife event: the 31st Annual BLADE Show (www.blademag.com) June 8-10 at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta. In addition to mankind’s finest cutlery, the legends of the knife industry will descend on the show, and this will be your chance to meet them up close and personal.

    Such Blade Magazine Cutlery Hall-Of-Fame© members as Gil Hibben (table 5J and shown in his shop above working on one of his Paul Ehlers fantasy knife designs [Mike Carter photo]); A.G. Russell (booth 96); B.R. Hughes (the ABS section); Bruce Voyles (table 1V); Houston Price (table 23M and/or the ABS section); Bill Adams (table 7V); Ron Lake (booth 43); Sal Glesser (booth 20); D’Alton Holder (table 1M); and Ken Onion (booth 28) will be on hand to talk with you about your favorite subject, and show you their best examples of same. Other Hall-Of-Fame members that may or may not be attending are Pete Gerber, Chuck Buck (booth 12) and Ken Warner. Paul Bos will not be attending but said he will next year if all goes according to plan.

    In addition to these living legends will be most of the world’s top custom knifemakers, knife manufacturers, sheath makers, sharpener companies, knifemaking supplies, materials and equipment, swords, tomahawks, knife collections, knife seminars, and any and all knife accessory companies and other companies with knife-related items.

    And you too, of course.

Take yourself and your kids to the 31st Annual BLADE Show (www.bladeshow.com) at the Cobb Galleria Centre June 8-10 in Atlanta and help educate your youngsters on the true meaning of knives in today’s culture.

    Join former National Knife Museum Curator Pete Cohan and Travis Ferguson, chief operating officer of Smoky Mountain Knife Works, as they outline “SharpKidz,” a revolutionary new program that promises to teach young boys and girls about all knives, knife safety and the pivotal roles knives and the people who use them play in every segment of society (Sunday, June 10, 11:30 a.m., Room 108). In addition, take your children to ABS’ special “Bladesmithing For Kids” (Saturday, June 9, 11:30 a.m., Room 108) conducted by ABS bladesmiths Wes Byrd, Joe Keeslar and Tim Potier, and then to ABS master smith Jay Hendrickson’s 26^th Annual “How To Forge Knives,” with the able assistance of ABS bladesmith Tim Carr and his portable forge (Saturday, June 9, 12:30 p.m. The Courtyard).

    All BLADE Show ticket holders are admitted to the show’s seminars free of charge.

 Congratulations to the new Master Smiths in the American Bladesmith Society. The following new Master Smiths had their five presentation knives judged by the Judging Panel and were awarded their new rating at the 2012 Blade Show in Atlanta on Friday, June 8th.
