Spear point offers modular modification.
Downsizing the original design to give users a viable EDC option, Benchmade recently unveiled its Mini SOCP Folder. Designed by Special Operations Combatives Program (SOCP) founder Greg Thompson, the new folder blends high-speed combative utility with daily carry versatility, offering a lighter and more pocketable sequel to its full-sized predecessor.
While carrying the “Mini” designation, the folder remains a substantial cutting platform boasting a 3.76-inch spear-point blade of CPM S30V stainless steel. The steel is an excellent choice for a hard-use EDC, balancing edge retention, corrosion resistance and toughness. Furthering the blade’s robustness, Benchmade gives the steel a protective flat dark earth Cerakote finish.
The interesting twist on the Mini SOCP is its modular design, with no better example of how this plays out than the knife’s deployment system. Customizable to users’ operational preferences, deployment studs can switch between an included thumb disk, standard thumb stud or an integrated pocket-deployment hook for rapid wave-style retrieval upon drawing.

Users can tailor the knife’s retrieval profile and draw method using modular backspacer setups. The system allows seamless switching between a full finger-ring backspacer engineered for high-speed tactical quick-draw capability and a low-profile finger-ring pocket clip designed for subtle daily carry.
The handle is outfitted with textured sand G10 scales built over Benchmade’s signature AXIS Lock mechanism—the original crossbar system. The company keeps the knife’s weight manageable at a scant 4.31 ounces. Offering a refined balance between a dedicated defensive tool and a practical field folder, the SOCP Folder comes in with an MSRP of $350.
