Apparently one of our favorite knife actors of all time, Paul Hogan, he of Crocodile Dundee fame, cannot leave his native Australia until he pays his taxes. According to Colin Cowherd of ESPN, Hogan was recently detained in Australia and told he could not leave the country until he pays about $36 MILLION (I don’t know what that is in Aussie currency but I’m sure it’s a bunch).
It appears the Aussie tax types have tied Hogan’s kangaroo down.

SB432 makes certain that Georgia’s knife laws are consistent throughout the state. As the home of the BLADE Show (www.bladeshow.com), this is very important to knife owners, collectors and manufacturers and means millions of dollars in business to Georgia.
The Georgia legislature is in the final hours of the 2012 session and there are a lot of bills competing to be heard before the legislature adjourns, most likely on Thursday.
It is critical for you to call the office of Georgia’s Speaker of the House David Ralston and POLITELY request that he “please schedule SB432 for a vote as soon as possible.” That’s all the message you need to leave.

South Carolina Representative MIKE PITTS will speak at the American Knife & Tool Institute’s Legislative Update Meeting during the BLADE Show (www.bladeshow.com) June 8-10 at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta.
The AKTI meeting will be show Sunday, June 10, at 10 a.m. in Room 103.
Rep. Pitts’ talk is entitled “How to communicate with your State Legislators” and will explain how to effectively convey your concerns to state representatives to ensure they are heard and taken seriously.
Rep. Pitts has represented District 14 in the South Carolina House of Representatives since 2002 and recently introduced legislation ensuring consistency in the state’s knife and firearms regulations. An avid sportsman and former police officer, Rep. Pitts serves as president of the Executive Council of the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses (NASC). The Executive Council plays a critical role in protecting hunting and fishing rights and preserving our conservation heritage.
During the show, attendees are encouraged to stop by AKTI booth #162 to discuss knife issues with AKTI board members, and to receive a free gift. Rep. Pitts will be available at the booth from 2-to-4 p.m. on show Saturday.

Two knife shows about as far apart as you can get and still be in the good ol’ USA will grace this weekend’s cutlery calendar.
Dan Delavan’s first Hawaii Knife Show will be March 12 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Honolulu, while the NKCA-sanctioned Dalton Knife Show will be March 11-13 at the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center in Dalton, Georgia.
Coordinated by Dan and Pam Delavan of Plaza Cutlery, the Hawaii show will include a number of leading custom knifemakers, including Ernest Emerson, Les George, Steve Johnson, Tom Mayo and Blade Magazine Cutlery Hall-Of-Fame© member Ken Onion, among others.
