Knife Rights Offers Knife Law App

Now you can download an app that includes knife laws for all 50 states on your iPad, iPhone or other handheld or personal devices. Knife Rights announces the LegalBlade™ App that includes Knife Laws In America™. LegalBlade provides guidance at your fingertips to the knife laws of all 50 states, as well as some cities and local jurisdictions across the United States.

Knife Rights Founder and Chairman Doug Ritter said, “While Knife Rights will continue to aggressively work to repeal bad knife laws, knowledge of the law is the first step in avoiding an unfortunate arrest, loss of your knife or other legal complications. Knife Rights’ LegalBlade app was originally conceived back when I saw the first iPhone in 2007, shortly after Knife Rights was organized. I am pleased that we can finally offer knife owners a comprehensive, up-to-date and readily accessible compendium of knife laws that’s been sorely needed.

Features of the LegalBlade app:

unnamed

  • Includes the knife laws of all 50 states and the District of Columbia, plus cities
  • Results presented incorporate judicial decisions that affect how the law is actually enforced
  • Easy to understand, color-coded tables
  • Comprehensive information on the legality of Possession, Open Carry and Concealed Carry for all common knife types, including those most often restricted
  • Includes length restrictions, age restrictions and other restrictions in the law
  • Includes the text of the state law, plus applicable portions of court decisions that further define what is legal and what is not
  • “What To Do If Stopped or Arrested,” by Evan Nappen, noted knife law expert and attorney, provides clear, concise information to protect your rights if you are ever stopped for carrying a knife or arrested for a knife law violation
  • All legal data is maintained on the server for instant law updates and the addition of more cities going forward

All data is maintained on the server to ensure users always have the most current information that is available to Knife Rights. As more cities are added to the database, they automatically become available to the LegalBlade App.

The LegalBlade™ App is available now in the Google Play Store.

It is expected to be available in the Apple App Store within two weeks; it is currently awaiting App Store approval. For more on knives and knife rights, click here.

2014 BLADE Show A Smash Success

Overflow crowds, the latest knives, award winners, Cutlery Hall Of Famers and scads of sharp stuff in general made the 2014 BLADE Show a smash success.

Thanks to beaucoup edged stuff, the 2014 BLADE Show was a smash success.
The latest knives, tomahawks and more made the 2014 BLADE Show a smash success. The booth is that of Ryan Johnson’s RMJ Tactical.

Held June 6-8 at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, Georgia, the BLADE Show is the world’s largest and most important knife event, and the 33rd annual rendition this past weekend surpassed all expectations.

Knife enthusiasts stampeded through the show on Friday, with many on hand remarking on how it was the biggest Friday crowd in show history. ABS master smith Daniel Winkler and his Winkler II Knives booth experienced record sales. “Last year was my best BLADE Show ever in terms of sales, and I sold more on Friday of this year’s show than all of last year’s show,” he noted.

Many makers reported heavy sales, including Jon Graham of Graham Knives, who said he sold 97 of his mid-techs and was sold out Friday. In fact, many exhibitors sold out Friday.

However, that did not slow things down any on Saturday, as the knife feeding frenzy continued.

Meanwhile, the BLADE Magazine 2014 Knife-Of-The-Year® Awards were named the Saturday night of the show during the BLADE Magazine Awards Reception, with the CRKT/Ken Onion Hijinx taking Overall Knife-Of-The-Year® honors and the Rat Worx MRX winning the first-ever People’s Choice Knife-Of-The-Year® Award. For more on the winners, visit bladeshow.com.

The custom knife judging named the top handmade knives, headed by the Tembo Bowie, winner of Best Collaboration and Best Of Show. The knife was auctioned by the Custom Knife Collectors Association to raise money to save the African elephant.

One of the most popular selections of the show was the naming of Goldie Russell of A.G. Russell Knives to the BLADE Magazine Cutlery Hall Of Fame©. Goldie is the first woman to be inducted and joins her husband, A.G., as the only married couple in the Hall.

DMT Garners Presidential Award for Exports

Diamond Machining Technology, an internationally known manufacturer of knife sharpeners, was presented the President’s “E” Award for exports at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. on May 28, 2014. U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker presented the E Award, which is the highest recognition any U.S. entity can receive for making a significant contribution to the expansion of U.S. exports. DMT is the only Massachusetts company to receive an E Award this year.

DMT_New Magna-Guide Kit“We are honored to receive the ‘E’ Award in recognition of our global sales and marketing efforts,” said Mark Brandon, President of DMT. “Over the past five years—in addition to strong U.S. sales growth—DMT has expanded its export sales by an average of 18 percent per year and added 13 new ‘shipped-to’ countries. It is a credit to our vibrant, international distribution network, as well as the quality of our Made in America products.”

In her congratulatory letter, Secretary Pritzker wrote, “DMT has demonstrated a sustained commitment to export expansion. The “E” Awards Committee was very impressed with DMT’s exporting to 37 countries. The company’s co-branded marketing program was also particularly impressive. DMT’s achievements have undoubtedly contributed to national export expansion efforts that support the U.S. economy and create American jobs.”

First established under President John F. Kennedy in 1961, companies nominated for the “E” Award must demonstrate four years of successive export growth in addition to an innovative international marketing plan. This year, a total of 66 U.S. companies received the President’s “E” Award. The “E” represents a World War II symbol of excellence.

In 2013, U.S. exports of goods and services hit an all-time record of $2.3 trillion. Nationally, jobs supported by exports reached more than 11 million, an increase of 1.6 million since 2009. See more knife sharpers here!
