Beware fraudulent BLADE Show hotel scammers. — Beware BLADE Show hotel scammers who may contact you concerning hotel reservations for the world’s biggest knife show June 2-4 at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta. (PointSeven image)

It’s that time of year again, time when Internet, telephone and other scammers misrepresent themselves as so-called “official” agents of the BLADE Show in booking hotel rooms for the world’s biggest and most important knife event. Beware BLADE Show hotel scammers! To find out how to both identify such unauthorized charlatans and protect yourself from them, read on.

Slated for June 2-4 at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, the 2017 BLADE Show will attract knife enthusiasts from all over the world, knife enthusiasts unscrupulous scammers will try to exploit. However, if you follow a few easy guidelines, you can foil the scammers and get the best lodging for the show your hard-earned dollars can buy.

The BLADE Show has designated EventSphere as the ONLY housing provider for the 2017 BLADE Show. If it’s anyone but EventSphere, delete. There are fraudulent companies and organizations that will try and present themselves as official partners of the BLADE Show and offer you a potential room that might not be guaranteed or available. When booking with Eventsphere use the online reservation link or call 855-547-8429 and expect to receive an immediate confirmation e-mail.

PLEASE NOTE: EventSphere will NEVER call you directly to book a reservation!!!!!!!

The only reasons EventSphere would call you are:

•You phoned and left a message requesting a returned call;

•There is a problem with an existing reservation;

•Someone from BLADE Show management told EventSphere to contact you.

You Have Until Tomorrow To Support Pro-BLADE Show Knife Law

You still have time to support Georgia’s SB432, a Knife Law Preemption bill that would protect law-abiding citizens traveling through the state from a patchwork of conflicting knife laws that make citizens in accordance with the law in one jurisdiction and lawbreakers in the next.

As Atlanta is home to the BLADE Show, successful passage of SB432 would not only ensure Georgia residents carrying a knife are treated fairly wherever they travel in Georgia, but all those traveling to the BLADE Show though towns and cities with knife laws more restrictive than Georgia’s otherwise decent knife laws would be safe from violation. (Author’s note: An Atlanta city ordinance makes it illegal to carry any automatic or any knife with a blade longer than 3 inches “readily available for use.”)

According to Knife Rights, the Georgia Senate Judiciary Committee has passed SB432 but your help is needed urgently to get the bill through the state’s Senate Rules Committee and a Senate floor vote. Knife enthusiasts have only until close of business tomorrow, Wednesday, to get the bill through the Senate Rules Committee and a Senate floor vote.

If you live, work or travel in Georgia, and this includes every BLADE Show exhibitor and attendee, please POLITELY contact the Chairman and Co-Chairman of the Senate Rules Committee and simply ask them to bring SB432 to a vote on the floor:

Knife Rights Wins a Blade Magazine 2012 Industry Achievement Award

Knife Rights, one of America’s premier organizations defending the right to own and use knives and edged tools, was presented with one of two Blade Magazine 2012 Industry Achievement Awards® at the annual Blade Magazine Knife-Of-The-Year Awards Banquet at the BLADE Show in Atlanta, Georgia.

Also receiving a Blade Magazine 2012 Industry Achievement Award was the American Knife & Tool Institute, also for its efforts in protecting Americans’ right to own, use and carry knives.

Knife Rights was recognized for its “diligence in working to have pro-knife legislation passed in a number of states this year,” said BLADE® Magazine editor, Steve Shackleford. Managing Editor Joe Joe Kertzman noted, “the legislative offensive mounted… this year has been nothing short of historic.”

The annual awards by BLADE Magazine at the BLADE Show are recognized as the pinnacle of achievement in the knife industry. The BLADE Show is the largest cutlery show in the world held every year in Atlanta. Georgia represented one of Knife Rights’ successes this year with Knife Law Preemption set to become law on July 1, protecting BLADE Show attendees from certain onerous restrictive knife regulations.

Doug Ritter, Knife Rights chairman, said, “Knife Rights is honored to be recognized for our achievements in defending knife owners’ rights. We sincerely appreciate the support from individuals and industry that has allowed us to make great strides this year. ”

Knife Rights’ legislative successes this year to date include the Knife Law Preemption bill in Georgia, clarification of the switchblade law that legalized assisted-opening knives and the manufacture of assisted-opening and switchblade knives in Washington and the passage of a bill repealing Missouri’s switchblade ban, currently awaiting the governor’s signature.

In addition, Knife Rights made real progress on bills in Alaska, Indiana and Kansas that passed by super majorities in one house of the legislature and which would have been on track to pass into law except for election year and redistricting politics. Knife Rights expects to be back in these states next year to finish the job. In addition, Knife Rights has switchblade ban repeal and preemption legislation pending in Pennsylvania, as well as efforts in additional states.

Ritter said, “This is a long term effort. Our rights weren’t lost overnight and they won’t be restored overnight. Knife Rights is committed to passing pro-knife legislation in all 50 states.

2014 BLADE Show A Smash Success

Overflow crowds, the latest knives, award winners, Cutlery Hall Of Famers and scads of sharp stuff in general made the 2014 BLADE Show a smash success.

Held June 6-8 at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, Georgia, the BLADE Show is the world’s largest and most important knife event, and the 33rd annual rendition this past weekend surpassed all expectations.

Knife enthusiasts stampeded through the show on Friday, with many on hand remarking on how it was the biggest Friday crowd in show history. ABS master smith Daniel Winkler and his Winkler II Knives booth experienced record sales. “Last year was my best BLADE Show ever in terms of sales, and I sold more on Friday of this year’s show than all of last year’s show,” he noted.

Many makers reported heavy sales, including Jon Graham of Graham Knives, who said he sold 97 of his mid-techs and was sold out Friday. In fact, many exhibitors sold out Friday.

However, that did not slow things down any on Saturday, as the knife feeding frenzy continued.

Meanwhile, the BLADE Magazine 2014 Knife-Of-The-Year® Awards were named the Saturday night of the show during the BLADE Magazine Awards Reception, with the CRKT/Ken Onion Hijinx taking Overall Knife-Of-The-Year® honors and the Rat Worx MRX winning the first-ever People’s Choice Knife-Of-The-Year® Award. The custom knife judging named the top handmade knives, headed by the Tembo Bowie, winner of Best Collaboration and Best Of Show. The knife was auctioned by the Custom Knife Collectors Association to raise money to save the African elephant.

One of the most popular selections of the show was the naming of Goldie Russell of A.G. Russell Knives to the BLADE Magazine Cutlery Hall Of Fame©. Goldie is the first woman to be inducted and joins her husband, A.G., as the only married couple in the Hall.
